Overview of developments in the field of artificial intelligence for March 2026

22042026_2.jpegThe National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, in cooperation with the National Institute for Strategic Studies and the Center for Analysis and Development of Effective Policies, has prepared a new issue of “AI Frontiers: Innovations, Breakthroughs, Challenges” – a review of key developments in the field of artificial intelligence for March 2026.

March marked a transition in the development of artificial intelligence toward a phase of infrastructure reassessment and strategic realignment. Amid rapid growth in investment and the expansion of data centers, access to energy resources is becoming an increasingly decisive factor, shaping a new form of competition – not only for computing power, but also for energy stability.

At the same time, global technological competition between the United States, China, and the European Union continues to intensify. This competition extends beyond model development to include control over supply chains, semiconductors, and infrastructure. Parallel to this, the AI solutions market is undergoing redistribution, particularly in the defense sector, where companies are increasingly required to define their position regarding cooperation with government institutions.

In the security dimension, further integration of AI into military operations, cyberspace, and information campaigns has been observed, including the use of synthetic content and autonomous agents for disinformation. This is accompanied by the emergence of new vulnerabilities in the information environment and the growing role of AI as a tool of influence.

Particular attention is drawn to the intensification of legal and ethical challenges – from the regulation of generative content and personal data protection to the misuse of AI for creating harmful or illegal content. At the same time, there is a growing demand for labeling “human-made” content as a response to the widespread adoption of generative technologies.

All key trends, developments, and analytical insights are available in the digest for March 2026.
