Overview of developments in artificial intelligence for February 2026
The National Cybersecurity Coordination Center under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, in cooperation with the National Institute for Strategic Studies and the Center for Analysis and Development of Effective Policies, has prepared a new issue of “AI Frontiers: innovations, breakthroughs, challenges” – a review of key developments in artificial intelligence for February 2026.
February demonstrated a continued intensification of global competition in AI and the emergence of several centers of power around leading states and technology corporations. The market shows a clear trend toward concentration: major players are not only developing models but also investing in their own infrastructure, data, and computing resources, forming increasingly self-contained ecosystems.
One of the key trends of the month was the rapid expansion of agentic AI – systems capable of autonomously performing complex tasks and making decisions. While this creates new opportunities for both business and the public sector, it also increases the risks of unpredictable system behavior and complicates regulatory approaches.
At the same time, the security dimension of AI is becoming more pronounced. AI technologies are increasingly integrated into military, cyber, and intelligence processes, raising new ethical dilemmas and questions about the limits of acceptable use. Meanwhile, the application of AI continues to expand across healthcare, the corporate sector, and digital services, reinforcing its transformative impact on the economy and society.
All key trends, developments, and analytical insights are available in the digest for February 2026.
