Ukraine Aligns Sanctions with the UK and Extends Expiring Measures

02022026.jpegOn Monday, February 2, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed two decrees implementing decisions of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions. The measures provide for the synchronization of Ukraine’s sanctions with the United Kingdom and the extension of previously expiring sanctions.

The first decree extends sanctions against former oligarch Dmytro Firtash and imposes restrictions on his close associates and his controlled company.

“All entities connected to russia and its structures deserve to be blocked,” emphasized President Zelenskyy.

The second decree extends sanctions against Taras Kozak, a close ally of former oligarch Viktor Medvedchuk, along with eight companies associated with him involved in pro-russian propaganda.

“Long before the start of russia’s full-scale aggression, these individuals chose russia, and thus chose war. We will continue to counter each such entity,” Zelenskyy stated.

These measures aim to strengthen Ukraine’s national security, counter the influence of the russian federation and its affiliated structures, and align Ukraine’s sanctions policy with international partners.
