Ukrainian Defense Industry: Scale, Effectiveness, Results

In 2026, the projected production capacity of Ukraine’s defense industry is estimated at USD 55 billion — 55 times higher than at the start of the full-scale invasion.

Last year, over 70% of Ukraine’s weapons procurement spending was directed to domestic production. This confirms that Ukraine’s defense industry is now capable of supplying the types of weapons most in demand on the battlefield.

In 2025, the defense industrial sector attracted USD 6.7 billion in international support, including from the EU, the Netherlands, Norway, Germany, and Denmark.

Ukrainian defense technologies are proving their effectiveness and reshaping the modern battlefield:

FPV drones have become a mass asymmetric weapon: over 160 companies, production capacity of more than 8 million drones per year, accounting for over 60% of enemy losses in 2025.

Interceptor drones have become a mass response to aerial terror: production capacity increased eightfold, 100,000 units produced in 2025, more than 20 companies active in the sector, over 60% effectiveness. This enables the protection of cities without exhausting expensive air defense missiles.

Deep Strike — strategic pressure on the enemy’s rear: range of over 2,000 km, every dollar invested causes USD 10 in damage to Russia, 20% of russia’s oil refining capacity disabled. Production capacity of this segment stands at USD 25 billion.

Maritime drones have changed the situation in the Black Sea: range of 1,500 km, nearly 90% effectiveness, more than 25 russian vessels destroyed or damaged. Today, these are multifunctional platforms capable of performing a wide range of maritime tasks.
