Results of Ukraine’s Defense Industry in 2025: Maritime Drones
Maritime drones have become one of the most effective tools of Ukraine’s asymmetric response to russian aggression at sea. Their operational range reaches up to 1,500 km, allowing strikes against targets in areas where the enemy previously felt secure.
The combat effectiveness of sea drones is nearly 90%. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, russia’s overall losses at sea as a result of these actions are 20 times higher than Ukraine’s expenditures on sea drones.
As a result of the systematic use of maritime unmanned platforms, a significant portion of the russian Black Sea Fleet has been neutralized: over 25 military vessels have been destroyed or critically damaged.
Over the course of the war, Ukraine’s industry has been able to transform sea drones into multi-purpose platforms, which now pose a threat not only to russian ships but also to helicopters, aircraft, and air defense systems.
Ukraine has updated its maritime doctrine, emphasizing unmanned systems, mobility, and precision strikes. This approach has made it possible to regain control over key sea routes and ensure the functioning of the Black Sea Grain Corridor without russian participation.
Today, Ukraine’s industry fully meets the Armed Forces’ needs for sea drones, and our partners are implementing practices for using this weapon to protect maritime spaces.
Sea drones are an example of how technologies produced in Ukraine are changing the rules of war and delivering strategic results.
