Results of Ukraine’s Defense Industry in 2025: Interceptor Drones

Interceptor drones are a Ukrainian innovation that has changed the rules of the game in air defense.

They became a response to the intensification of enemy air attacks, as the adversary increasingly uses massive swarms of strike drones against Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure.

In 2026, Ukraine has exponentially increased its production capacity for interceptor drones — by 8 times compared to the previous period.

The combat use of interceptor drones demonstrates a mission success rate exceeding 60%. This confirms the effectiveness of the solutions under real wartime conditions.

In just the past year, Ukraine produced 100,000 interceptor drones. This allowed the creation of a large-scale, flexible, and economically efficient system to counter russian Shaheds.

Ukraine cannot shoot down hundreds of enemy drones daily with expensive air defense missiles. Shooting down one Shahed with an interceptor drone costs over 25 times less than using a Western-model air defense missile.

That is why interceptor drones have become one of the key elements of modern multi-layered air defense. They are a mass protection tool that preserves economic resources while saving the lives of Ukrainians.
