Results of Ukraine’s Defense Industry in 2025: FPV Drones

23012026_FPV_drony.jpegFPV drones are our asymmetric response to the enemy. They have become one of the key components of Ukraine’s modern defense strategy. Today, 60% of the losses of the Russian army are inflicted precisely through the use of FPV drones.

As of 2026, the capacities of Ukraine’s defense industry allow the production of more than 8 million FPV drones per year, which is an unprecedented figure for any country at war.

More than 160 companies of various scales—from large factories to innovative enterprises specializing in unmanned systems—produce FPV drones in Ukraine.

FPV drones appeared on the battlefield in 2023 as a response to the challenge of an artillery ammunition shortage. Today, they have become a large-scale, cost-effective solution. Ukraine has managed to localize the production of components and transform drones into multifunctional platforms capable of performing a wide range of tasks—fiber-optic drones, the use of artificial intelligence, and even missions deep in the enemy’s rear, as was the case in Operation “Spiderweb.”

At the latest meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters, a decision was made to increase the effectiveness of the “Drone Line,” strengthen command and control, and provide it with the necessary resources.

FPV drones have made it possible to establish kill zones in certain sectors of the front and to prevent the movement of enemy heavy equipment and transport without significant losses on the enemy’s side.

The development of unmanned systems makes it possible to effectively strengthen defense, destroy the enemy, and reduce risks for our defenders.
