NSDC Office staff discussed cooperation and support in the energy sector with U.S. representatives

On January 16, 2026, a meeting took place between staff of the Office of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine and the U.S. Department of Energy.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to cooperation and support for Ukraine in the energy sector. The Ukrainian side proposed considering the possibility of providing international assistance to protect and modernize energy facilities, as well as implementing new cogeneration units and energy storage systems to strengthen the energy resilience of satellite cities of nuclear power plants.

In addition, the situation around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and the strengthening and enforcement of sanctions against Rosatom were discussed.

The participants noted the potential for expanding the energy dialogue and scaling up joint projects in the energy sector.

The parties agreed to exchange information on the status and problematic issues of project implementation in Ukraine in order to jointly coordinate their execution.
