Ukraine boosts digital resilience: results of Cybersecurity Month 2025

cyber_10112025_a.jpegCybersecurity Month, an annual initiative aimed at improving citizens' digital literacy and developing a culture of cyber hygiene, has come to an end in Ukraine. The events were coordinated at the national level by the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NCSCC).

Throughout October, all regions of the country joined the campaign, including central and local authorities, educational institutions, representatives of business, and public organizations. Hundreds of educational events were held in regional administrations and communities, including online training sessions, webinars, interactive lessons, quests, and competitions dedicated to safe behavior in the digital environment.

The NCSCC repared and distributed methodological materials with recommendations on cyber hygiene, personal data protection, and countering phishing, fraud, and disinformation. They were sent to nearly a hundred state and regional institutions, ensuring a unified information framework for the campaign across the country.

Natalia Tkachuk, Head of the Information Security and Cybersecurity Service of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and Secretary of the NCSCC, emphasized: "This is not just an information campaign, but a joint effort aimed at developing the state as a modern, secure digital space. We see how, year after year, the level of interest in the regions is growing, the private sector is becoming more actively involved, and a culture of cyber awareness is forming among citizens. Such partnership is the key to the country's cyber resilience."

In 2025, special attention was paid to the regional level, where digital security culture is formed. During the campaign, training was conducted for employees of government agencies, educational institutions, medical facilities, cultural institutions, and social services.

In the Sumy region, more than 9,000 people were certified in digital literacy. In the Odesa region, online training courses on the basics of cyber hygiene were held with the participation of specialists from the State Special Communications Service, and in the Cherkasy region, more than 2,000 events were held for students, teachers, and parents.

“Such initiatives not only promote the development of skills for the safe use of digital technologies, but also strengthen citizens' trust in state online services. This is an important element in building a modern digital Ukraine,” said Vyacheslav Bazarenko, Deputy Head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration for Digital Development (CDTO).

At the same time, Valentin Pabat, CDTO of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration, emphasized the practical effect of the initiative: "We conducted a series of trainings for educators, medical professionals, and civil servants, and organized trips to communities to improve the protection of local networks. It is important that this work does not end with Cybersecurity Month – it is an ongoing process of creating a secure digital environment."

The National Cybersecurity Coordination Center at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine continues to develop partnerships between the public and private sectors and supports initiatives aimed at raising cyber awareness in society.
