Ukraine Covers Almost Half of Front's Needs with Its Own Production – Rustem Umerov

site_1.pngRustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, took part in the 29th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format.

During the meeting, which was organized by the United Kingdom and Germany, Rustem Umerov presented up-to-date information on Ukraine's defense capabilities and the development of the national defense-industrial complex.

"Today, Ukraine already covers almost 40% of the frontline's needs through its own production. And 95% of the drones used at the front are made in Ukraine. We are not just a country that fights, but also a country that produces," the NSDC Secretary emphasized.

According to Rustem Umerov, over $20 billion has been invested in the Ukrainian defense industry in the last two years alone, which has allowed for a multifold increase in the production of weapons, unmanned systems, and critical components.

As part of international cooperation, more than 20 joint defense projects have already been implemented, and a number of other initiatives are in an active phase.

The "Danish model," which launched direct foreign investments into the national defense-industrial complex, plays a special role in this.

"Thanks to the 'Danish model,' our partners have, for the first time, directly invested in Ukrainian defense enterprises. This amounts to over $4 billion invested in our shared security," Rustem Umerov noted.

The meeting was also attended by Denys Shmyhal, Minister of Defense of Ukraine, and Matthew Whitaker, US Ambassador to NATO.
