Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine took part in the events on the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Statehood and the Day of Baptism of Kyivan Rus - Ukraine
On Tuesday, July 15, Kyiv hosted events on the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Statehood and the Day of Baptism of Kyivan Rus - Ukraine with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The celebrations were attended by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Lytvynenko, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, government officials, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Ukraine, military leadership, Ukrainian soldiers and their families. Foreign guests who are on a visit to our country were also present, including U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Keith Kellogg and Prime Minister of Latvia Eika Silinja.
On the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Statehood and the Day of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus - Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy conferred the highest state awards on Ukrainian soldiers, including Heroes of Ukraine, handed over orders to the families of the fallen, presented battle flags, awards “For Courage and Bravery” and ribbons with honorary names to unit commanders, as well as awards to civilian Ukrainians and passports of Ukrainian citizens to 14-year-old children.
"For more than ten centuries, Kyiv and our entire Ukrainian land have been one of the world's centers of Christianity and the creation of European history. It is simply impossible to imagine a complete and honest history of Europe without Ukraine, without the battles won here and Ukrainian legendary figures, without what our people have done and the ties of many countries with Ukraine," the President noted.
