Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine met with the delegation of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Lytvynenko met with the delegation of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs headed by State Secretary Eivind Vad Peterson on Wednesday, June 18. The conversation focused on key defense needs to protect the lives of Ukrainians from Russian missile and drone attacks, as well as further steps to strengthen the defense capabilities of our country.
The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine informed the delegation about the current security situation in Ukraine in the context of the recent massive shelling of civilian infrastructure by Russian forces and outlined the main needs of the army, in particular, air defense systems and missiles, military equipment, ammunition, etc. Oleksandr Lytvynenko also thanked the Norwegian people, government and parliament for their unconditional and multilateral support of our country in the fight against Russian aggression.
State Secretary of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Eivind Vad Peterson emphasized that Norway is determined to continue to openly support Ukraine as an independent, democratic and sovereign state.
In the course of the dialogue, the parties noted that international sanctions remain an important component of pressure on Russia and agreed to further coordinate in the political and security spheres.
