"Military Diplomacy: Resilience, Weapons, Victory": Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine took part in the meeting of foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine
On Wednesday, 21 August, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Lytvynenko took part in a meeting of foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine "Military Diplomacy: Resilience, Weapons, Victory".
Speaking to the country's diplomatic corps, the NSDC Secretary stressed the importance of supporting the unity of Ukrainians in the world during the war against russian aggression. The role of diplomats in solving this task set by the President of Ukraine is extraordinary and fundamental.
Addressing the audience, Oleksandr Lytvynenko drew attention to the fundamental importance of further mobilising international support in providing weapons to Ukraine. He thanked the representatives of diplomatic missions for their work in this direction and stressed that investments in the Defence Forces have exceeded all military budgets of Ukraine over the past 30 years.
The NSDC Secretary called on the representatives of the Ukrainian diplomatic corps to focus on several tasks that require a balanced approach. These include strengthening and improving sanctions pressure on the aggressor state.
"The application of the sanctions policy has led to the loss of russia's image as a global power, the destruction of traditional trade and financial markets, the gradual destruction of the economy, and the start of technological lagging behind", - underlined he.
It was also emphasised that diplomats should conduct outreach activities aimed at proving that materials of russian origin that are critical to the West can be replaced by Ukrainian ones.
Another task that requires the attention of the Ukrainian diplomatic corps is to continue working to bring the aggressor country to justice and ensure compensation for the damage caused to Ukraine.
"Ukraine's position remains unchanged: we stand for the establishment of a separate international tribunal that would have a mandate to overcome the immunity of the leaders of the aggressor country. Everyone in the world must be sure that there is an institution capable of bringing to justice those who encroached on the foundations of the international legal order and that justice will be restored", - stressed the Secretary.
During the conversation, the NSDC Secretary elaborated on the implementation of security agreements concluded with partner countries, in particular, the further implementation of the Peace Formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"It is critical to promote the narrative of long-term security for Ukrain", - he underscored and added that this concept includes a wide range of comprehensive internal and external measures.
The next priority is to work with Ukrainians abroad and to preserve and develop the Ukrainian identity in the world. One of the guidelines for the country's transformation is the goal of returning to Ukraine as many of our citizens as possible who have left the country for various reasons.
"Our diplomatic corps has to work on this, especially since Ukrainians abroad are a powerful resource to support our information and international efforts", - he summed up.
Oleksandr Lytvynenko called on the diplomatic corps to focus on the tasks outlined and thanked each Ukrainian diplomat for their efforts to ensure Ukraine's victory.
The annual meeting of Ukraine's foreign diplomatic missions under the slogan "Military Diplomacy: Resilience, Weapons, Victory" began on 19 August with a speech delivered by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy who outlined the priorities for the diplomatic service in the near future. The Head of State stressed the need to further mobilise international support to meet the priority needs of the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine and strengthen Ukraine's defence capabilities in countering russian aggression.
