Strengthening the cyber resilience of the financial system: NCSCC launches "Vulnerability Management" training for Ukrainian banking sector specialists

On May 15, 2023, The National Cybersecurity Coordination Center at the NSDC of Ukraine, together with the National Bank's Cyber Defense Center, with the support of CRDF Global in Ukraine, launched the Vulnerability Management Program (VDP) for representatives of the banking sector.

More than 30 specialized technical specialists from about 30 banks and the NBU are taking part in the eleventh program in the Vulnerability Management series.

The purpose of such events is to improve practical skills in identifying vulnerabilities in information systems and ensuring comprehensive cybersecurity in the main cybersecurity entities, government agencies, critical infrastructure facilities, and other organizations within the framework of public-private partnerships.

"This is the second time the Vulnerability Management program has been held for the banking sector of Ukraine, as during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by russia, our banking sector is under constant attack by russian hackers. During the training, the best Ukrainian trainers will provide specialists with theoretical and practical knowledge in five areas of cybersecurity. Participants will be able to improve their qualification level and skills in the field of cybersecurity of information systems," said Head of the Information Security and Cybersecurity Service of the Staff of NSDC of Ukraine, the NCSCC Secretary Natalia Tkachuk, opening the event.

Natalia Tkachuk also thanked the participants and representatives of the NBU for their active participation, as the training will make a significant contribution to the development of cyber defense of the banking system of Ukraine and increase the cyber resilience of critical infrastructure of the financial system.

The VDP training course will last for six weeks. During the training, cybersecurity specialists will learn about current challenges and threats in the field of critical infrastructure protection of the banking system. They will also be able to share their experience and analyze most of the cybersecurity cases that they face almost every day in the course of their daily work.

The Vulnerability Management program for the financial sector of Ukraine is held on the basis of the NBU's Cyber Defense Center, so that banking employees can practice their skills in familiar interfaces specific to this sector.
