Ukrainian teams won prizes in NATO TIDE Hackathon 2023
The winners of the National Defense Hackathon 2022 won prizes in the NATO TIDE Hackathon 2023, which took place on February 20-24 in Warsaw. The team of the Kruty Heroes Military Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technologies also won the prize for the most innovative solution.
NATO TIDE Hackathon 2023 is an annual competition held by the NATO Transformation Command to find innovative solutions and solve Alliance interoperability problems. It is part of a cycle of events aimed at improving NATO and Allies interoperability through the search for innovative solutions and approaches.
More than a hundred cyber experts from 26 teams representing 13 NATO member countries and partners participated in TIDE Hackathon 2023. Ukraine was represented by the winners of the National Defense Hackathon 2022 - two teams each of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine (First-C.O.P and NEXT-C.O.P) and of the SoftServe company (Valkyria-1 and Valkyria-2). Two teams of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine (KRAB and SSSCIP LAB) and a team of the Kruty Heroes Military Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technologies also took part in the competition.
According to the results of the Hackathon, the Valkyrie-1 team took first place in the task of creating a dashboard to analyze the performance indicators of CWIX training participants regarding their progress in achieving interoperability. The second place in this task was won by the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection team - KRAB. And the team of the Kruty Heroes Military Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technologies received the prize for the most innovative solution based on the results of solving the task of building a concept of visual navigation for small UAVs.
This year, Ukrainian representatives actively participated in the organization and planning of TIDE Hackathon 2023. In particular, representatives of the Cyber Unit Technologies company developed one of the three tasks of the hackathon and provided technical support to the participants during the competition.
Also during the event, representatives of the Center for Innovations and Development of Defense Technologies of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine presented the participants of the NATO TIDE Hackathon 2023 with the latest Ukrainian development - the Delta system. The Delta development team has twice won the NATO TIDE Hackathon – in 2017 and 2018. This year, officers of the Innovation Center were invited to the Hackathon as speakers - to share experience with the NATO community and present their own developments.
