Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov held a meeting with the delegation of the European Parliament
Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, held a meeting with the delegation of the Special Committee of the European Parliament on foreign interference in all democratic processes in the EU, including disinformation, as part of the delegation's official visit to Ukraine.
During the meeting, the parties discussed practical steps to deepen cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union, in particular, in the field of combating hostile propaganda and disinformation.
Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to the representatives of the European Parliament for comprehensive assistance to our country on its way to victory in the aggressive war waged by the russian federation.
At the same time, he noted the importance of the informational component of this struggle and Ukraine's considerable experience in countering russian disinformation. "We have passed the hot phase of the information struggle and have a number of achievements that we are ready to share with our partners," he noted.
In this context, Oleksiy Danilov emphasized the perspective of establishing practical cooperation with the Center for Countering Disinformation at the NSDC of Ukraine and the Special Committee of the European Parliament on foreign interference in all democratic processes in the EU, including disinformation. According to him, russian disinformation is a challenge for all of Europe, since the terrorist state of the russian federation invests significant resources in it, and "the issue of regulation is difficult and sensitive" due to the difficulty of distinguishing between freedom of speech and propaganda.
In his turn, the Chairman of the Committee, Raphael Glucksmann, assured of unwavering support for Ukraine from the EU and the European Parliament in particular, noting that "we understand that this is not only Ukraine's war, but also ours." Mr. Glucksmann expressed his willingness to provide strong and comprehensive support to our state in the future and supported the proposal to establish cooperation between the CPD and the Committee to join forces in the fight against the propaganda machine of the russian federation.
