The National Cyber Security Coordination Center and the Military Institute of Telecommunications and Informatization named after Heroes of Krut launched a vulnerability management training program (VDP) for cadets and officers of the Armed Forces

On September 8, 2022, the National Cyber Security Coordination Center and the Military Institute of Telecommunications and Informatization named after Heroes of Krut launched the Vulnerability Disclosure Program (VDP) for the public sector of Ukraine.

The program was developed by leading specialists in cyber security of the NCCC, the private sector and critical infrastructure. Thanks to cooperation with the Civil Research and Development Foundation of the USA, it takes into account the best global approaches. The cyber security department of the Military Institute of Telecommunications and Informatization named after Heroes of KrutI adapted the course on finding and exploiting vulnerabilities on its infrastructure and included it in the curriculum for training cyber security specialists with master's and bachelor's degrees, as well as for upgrading the qualifications of officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The educational program of the specified course was included in the list of advanced training courses in the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense approved by the order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

"Cyber security today is not just a global trend, but primarily the protection of Ukrainians during a full-scale invasion by a terrorist country. We owe Ukraine's success on the cyber front precisely to highly qualified specialists. Therefore, one of the priorities now is to multiply the achievements and increase the quality human resources of the state in the field of cyber security. Both in the private and in the public sector," said Natalia Tkachuk, head of the information and cyber security service of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, secretary of the NCCC.

N. Tkachuk also noted that the NCCC, together with its partners, creates all the necessary conditions for training specialized specialists and improving the qualifications of representatives of state bodies. After all, the cyber security of the public sector and critical infrastructure facilities is one of the components of the stability of the state as a whole.

"I am glad to note that more and more girls are studying at the cyber security faculty among the institute's cadets. After all, this means that we are finally moving away from stereotypes that a cyber security specialist is a purely male profession," added the head of the service.

"The implementation of the course "Search and exploitation of vulnerabilities" was accompanied by thorough training of the scientific and pedagogical staff of the cyber security department at the Certified Ethical Hacker and Vulnerability detection program courses, their participation in competitions and trainings on cyber security. This contributed to the acquisition of skills by the teachers of the Military Institute of Telecommunications and Informatization named after Heroes of Krut and the composition of the educational and laboratory complex of the department. Fruitful cooperation with the team of the NCCC and CRDF during the year gave the institute the opportunity to take a step forward from the existing and generally accepted approaches in the organization and acquisition of practical skills in cyber security by students of the higher school," said the head of the Military Institute of Telecommunications and Informatization named after Heroes Krut Viktor Ostapchuk.

V. Ostapchuk noted that as a result of cooperation, the system of training cyber security specialists for the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was improved, including taking into account the latest needs of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine regarding the differentiation of specializations of training cyber security specialists.

From October of this year, training will begin for the first groups of cadets studying under the Master's and Bachelor's training programs in cyber security. And in January, the current officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who work in the field of cyber security, will take a certified training course.

The program will contribute to strengthening the level of cyber security for representatives of the law enforcement agencies and the critical infrastructure sector of Ukraine. The course was transferred as part of the implementation of the Memorandum signed by the parties on May 5, 2022.
