Oleksiy Danilov finished his working visit to Canada

On November 19-21, this year, the Ukrainian delegation led by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov took part in the Halifax International Security Forum, Canada.

Within the framework of the Forum, a number of meetings were held to discuss current threats and security cooperation between Ukraine and partner countries.

In particular, the delegation met with Minister of National Defense of Canada Anita Anand, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Canada Jody Thomas, the delegation of U.S senators co-led by Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and Chairman of the Subcommittee on European and Regional Security Cooperation Jeanne Shaheen and Co-Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations Jim Risch.

During the meetings, Mr. Danilov stressed the importance of consolidating the efforts of the civilized world to counter Russia’s aggressive policy and Ukraine’s readiness to resist the aggressor state in any developments.

The NSDC Secretary expressed his gratitude to Canadian and American partners for the comprehensive assistance and support of Ukraine and spoke for the deepening security cooperation with the United States and Canada.

Moreover, the Ukrainian delegation took part in the session “Ukraine: Liberty On the Line”. The Chatham-house rules discussion covered the situation on Ukraine’s borders, the importance of promoting Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration to ensure security in the region, the need for a tough response from the civilized world to Russia’s provocations, and the Euro-Atlantic community’s stance of solidarity.

The Ukrainian delegation also included Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Roman Mashovets, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anatoliy Petrenko, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. of Ukraine in Canada Andriy Bukvych, Defense Attaché, Colonel Viktor Siromaha, Military Attaché, Colonel Andriy Shmilyk.
