In December, large-scale Grid NetWars cybersecurity training to take place in Ukraine for the first time

On December 2, this year the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center at the NSDC of Ukraine together with the USAID Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure in Ukraine Activity and with the support of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine will support Grid NetWars, a training tournament on cybersecurity of critical infrastructure entities.

The Grid NetWars training scenarios were developed by SANS Institute, the world’s leading organization that trains, develops, and certifies cybersecurity professionals from beginner to advanced levels.

The Grid NetWars format involves teamwork to repel simulated cyberattacks. During the training, government officials and private companies representatives will practice their ability to protect critical infrastructure from hackers. For the first time, Ukrainian specialists will receive a prestigious certification from the SANS Institute.

“Russia’s use of advanced cyber technologies, aimed at destroying Ukraine’s critical information infrastructure, already requires urgent measures to enhance the efficiency of the national cybersecurity system, first of all strengthening the human potential of experts responsible for the cybersecurity of the state, as provided by the new Cybersecurity Strategy of Ukraine. One of such events is Grid NetWars training, which will provide real-time experience in identifying and combating cyberattacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure and increase the readiness of Ukrainian specialists to respond to cyber incidents of any complexity”, - Head of the Service for Supporting the NCSCC at the NSDC Staff Serhiy Prokopenko said.
