Experts of the NSDC Staff are observing drills with a special composition of territorial defense brigades within the framework of the strategic command and staff exercise “Joint Endeavour – 2021”

Experts of the Staff of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine are observing drills with a special composition of territorial defense brigades within the framework of the strategic command and staff exercise “Joint Endeavour – 2021”.

The purpose of the drills with conscripts and reservists of territorial defense units, which will last until October 1, is to increase the level of readiness of territorial defense units to perform their assigned tasks, ensure conditions for reliable functioning of public authorities, timely response and necessary measures to defend territories, protection of the population, participation in the implementation and enforcement of the martial law regime in accordance with NATO standards.

In July, the President of Ukraine signed the Law of Ukraine “On the Fundamentals of National Resistance”, which provides for a set of important measures aimed at developing territorial defense and the resistance movement, introducing a system of preparing the population for national resistance.

Experts of the NSDC Staff also took part in the work on this important law, which was prepared taking into account the experience gained by Ukraine during the seven years of hybrid Russian aggression and the experience of NATO member states.

The “Joint Endeavour – 2021” exercise, which aims to increase Ukraine’s defense capabilities and improve interoperability with the Armed Forces of NATO member states, involved about 12,5 thousand troops and more than 600 units of armaments and military equipment.

Military units from 15 countries, including 11 NATO member countries and 4 Partner countries, have been involved in conducting strategic command and staff exercises to jointly perform training and combat missions. The practical actions are based on the implementation of joint tasks of the forces and means of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and partner countries (NATO members).

Employees of the NSDC Staff will also participate as observers in the multinational Ukrainian-American military exercise Rapid Trident-2021.
