On June 29, this year, the 30th meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Working Group on Defense Technical Cooperation took place

The 30th meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Working Group on Defense Technical Cooperation (JWGDTC), chaired by Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Serhiy Demediuk and NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defense Investment Camille Grand, took place on June 29, this year.

The parties discussed the results of cooperation in the field of armaments in the first half of 2021, programs and plans to reform the Ukrainian defense industry, cooperation in support and procurement, achieving interoperability, cooperation in technology development and innovation policy, and more.

NATO experts’ attention was drawn to the implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On Defense Procurement”, implementation of the recently approved Strategy for the Development of the Defense-Industrial Complex, views on reforming the State Concern “Ukroboronprom”, expanding the participation of Ukrainian experts in the working groups of the Conference of National Armaments Directors and increasing direct procurement through NATO Support and Procurement Agency.

Moreover, the parties assessed the state of implementation of the Roadmap for NATO-Ukraine Defense Technical Cooperation and agreed to update it, in particular, taking into account the long-term decisions of the NATO Brussels Summit.

After the event, representatives of the Ministry of Defense for the first time joined a meeting of the NSPO Agency Supervisory Board, during which they presented the MoD’s views on developing cooperation in defense procurement and supply.

The strategic course for full membership in the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance is enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine.
