Celebrations on the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine took place in Kyiv
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his wife Olena, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak, members of the Government, members of Parliament participated in celebrations on the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered a speech on Sofia Square.
Before the President’s speech, the National Anthem of Ukraine was played and 10 festive salvos were fired. A ceremonial group of soldiers of the honor guard raised the State Flag of Ukraine.
The Head of State presented state awards of Ukraine.
President Zelenskyy and his wife honored the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, laid flowers to the memorial cross on the Alley of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.
The presidential couple, together with members of the families of fallen warriors and veterans, laid flowers at the Wall of Remembrance near St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery, honoring the memory of soldiers who gave their lives defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state.
The President of Ukraine and the First Lady also took part in the festive prayer service “Prayer for Peace and Blessing of Ukraine”.
