Oleksiy Danilov discussed with Oleh Urusky the issues of development and reform of the defense-industrial complex and the space industry

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov met with Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleh Urusky.

During the meeting, topical issues of the functioning of the defense-industrial complex and the space industry were discussed, in particular, in terms of drafting relevant long-term and medium-term documents for their development.

Mr. Danilov stressed that the reform of the defense industry is carried out in accordance with the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of 18.02.2020 “On the key indicators of the state defense order for 2020 and 2021, 2022” enacted by the Decree of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy of February 27, 2020 № 59.

According to the NSDC Secretary, the top-management of the industry should introduce a systematic approach to its development, in particular, take measures to increase coordination of military-industrial policy actors. He also stressed that the Government should resolve the issue of the organizational and legal form of work of enterprises that are part of the SC “Ukroboronprom”.

Mr. Danilov noticed that defense industry enterprises should first of all focus on providing the army with modern high-tech weapons and equipment. He also stressed the importance of scientific and technical development of the defense-industrial complex and the development of a roadmap for attracting foreign investment.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the issue of the missile program for the Armed Forces and the development of the space industry.
