Oleksiy Danilov: Urgent solutions are needed to balance the operation of the electricity market, prevent manipulation over it, and protect the citizens’ interests

Chaired by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov, a meeting of the working group on problematic issues of the energy sector took place.

Acting Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine Olha Buslavets, Chairman of the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities Valeriy Tarasyuk, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the National Reform Council Oleksandr Olshansky, Acting President of SE NNEGC “Energoatom” Petro Kotin, Director of Market Operations of PJSC NEC “Ukrenergo” Mykyta Vyshnevsky, Director of SE “Energorynok” Yuriy Hnatiuk, Director of SE “Market Operator” Volodymyr Yevdokymov, Director of Management of the UES of Ukraine - Chief Dispatcher of PJSC NEC “Ukrenergo" Zaichenko Vitaliy, energy expert Ivan Plachkov, MPs of Ukraine.

Opening the meeting of the working group, the NSDC Secretary informed the participants about the main tasks of the Council of Experts on Energy Security at the NSDC of Ukraine in accordance with its Regulations approved by Presidential Decree of May 29, 2020, № 206.

The participants of the meeting discussed the problematic issues of the functioning of the electricity market, measures to balance its work and prevent the emergence and deepening of crises in it.

Mr. Danilov stressed the need to take urgent decisions to balance the operation of the electricity market, prevent manipulation over it, and protect the citizens’ interests.

Based on the results of the meeting, it was decided to summarize the proposals and within three days to submit to the NSDC Secretary a plan of specific measures to overcome problematic issues in the electricity market for reporting to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
