In 48 hours, Ukraine will close the border for foreign nationals for two weeks. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will notify all institutions and countries of this decision. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov announced this during a briefing following the NSDC meeting.
“In two weeks, depending on how the situation develops, the NSDC will make further decisions”, - he said.
The NSDC Secretary stressed that the citizens of Ukraine who are abroad at the moment will be able to return home. At the same time, he said, Ukrainians returning from countries “where the coronavirus is raging will undergo observation procedures”.
According to Mr. Danilov, within a week all border crossing points that will be functioning, all medical institutions should be provided with rapid coronavirus tests. Mr. Danilov also informed that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine today has to make a decision on the allocation of additional funds to purchase medical supplies.
The NSDC Secretary stated that the situation in the country is “calm enough”, there are three confirmed cases of coronavirus disease – one in the Zhytomyr region, two – in the Chernivtsi region.
Oleksiy Danilov also addressed the media with a call not to disseminate unverified information.
