Deputy NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Solovyov and Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Volunteer Affairs Natalia Pushkaryova are paying a working visit to Chernivtsi

Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Solovyov and Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Volunteer Affairs Natalia Pushkaryov held a working meeting with Head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration Serhiy Osachuk.

Mr. Solovyov stressed that the NSDC of Ukraine is taking all measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Ukraine. The interlocutors emphasized the need to build awareness among the citizens.

Subsequently, the Deputy NSDC Secretary took part in an extraordinary meeting of the Regional Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies. “Our task today is to find out whether Bukovyna is ready to counteract the possible spread of coronavirus, - Mr. Solovyov stressed. - The health care services, as well as the military, the police, the rescuers, must coordinate their actions to make people feel safe”.

He noted that the NSDC of Ukraine is constantly monitoring the situation with coronavirus, in particular since January 20, the task force at the Council’s Staff conducts round-the-clock monitoring of the spread of the epidemic worldwide.

Representatives of the local Department of Health and the Laboratory Center reported on the state of supply of the region with medical supplies to deal with cases of suspected coronavirus, measures taken in the area to prevent its spread.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that all persons in contact with potential sick ones (police, border guards, servicemen, etc.) should be urgently provided with individual means of protection in full compliance with the approved standards.

The NSDC Secretary, the Head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration and the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Volunteer Affairs visited the infectious ward for adults and children of the Chernivtsi Regional Clinical Hospital. Mr. Solovyov also spoke with two hospitalized residents of the Chernivtsi region who had arrived from Italy and hadn’t been diagnosed with coronavirus infection.

Officials also visited a military hospital and the “Porubne” checkpoint, where they got acquainted with the work of border guards interviewing and conducting temperature screening of persons arriving from countries where cases of coronavirus infection were recorded; they also communicated with an ambulance team and epidemiologists who maintain a round-the-clock watch at the checkpoint.
