Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Urmas Reinsalu

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia Urmas Reinsalu.

During the meeting, the most topical issues of the bilateral agenda were discussed. The parties also exchanged views on the security situation in Europe and Eurasia.

"We are grateful and highly appreciate Estonia's consistent and unwavering stance on maintaining Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, clearly defining and condemning Russian aggression", - Mr. Danilov said. - We look forward to your subsequent support in pursuing the sanctions policy towards Russia".

The NSDC Secretary expressed his gratitude to the Estonian side for supporting our country's efforts in reforming the domestic security and defense sector, as well as for the treatment and medical rehabilitation of Ukrainian servicemen who suffered as a result of Russian aggression in the East of our country.

Minister Reinsalu emphasized that Ukraine can always count on Estonia's support in the international arena. In particular, he noted that Estonia will be a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council from next year, and suggests that Ukraine use this opportunity to draw the attention of the world community to the most crucial issues for our state.

The interlocutors paid particular attention to the issue of the war in Donbas, the last steps of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the ceasefire in the contact line and possible ways to achieve a lasting peace. The NSDC Secretary stressed that the Ukrainian authorities continue to work hard to reach effective agreements on de-escalation in Donbas.

"Our stance on the ways to resolve the conflict in Donbas remains unchanged - we must follow the security provisions of the Minsk agreements: ceasefire, withdrawal of heavy weapons and constant monitoring of the OSCE SMM", - Mr. Danilov underscored. - Ukraine has fulfilled all necessary prerequisites for holding the Summit of the Normandy Four at the highest level, now we are waiting for Russia's appropriate steps".

In his turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia emphasized that his country is a reliable friend of Ukraine, assured of the continued support of its territorial integrity and sovereignty, stressed the need to maintain sanction pressure on the aggressor state, and expressed readiness to expand bilateral cooperation.

Oleksiy Danilov and Urmas Reinsalu also drew attention to the intensification of bilateral military cooperation and called for its further deepening, in particular in the field of cybersecurity, where Estonia has advanced expertise. The parties also discussed current challenges in the field of energy security and agreed to cooperate on specific issues in the two mentioned areas.
