Oleksandr Danyliuk: The work of the NSDC of Ukraine should be as effective as possible to timely identify and respond to the challenges facing the state
The issue of national security is extremely urgent for Ukraine, and my task is to make the National Security and Defense Council - the coordinating body in the national security and defense system, as efficient as possible in order to timely identify the challenges facing the state and to find adequate responses to them.
This was stated by Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Danyliuk on the air of the program "Saturday Interview" (Radio Liberty).
Mr. Danyliuk stressed the importance of reforming the Security Service of Ukraine. According to him, first of all, it is necessary to strengthen the counter-intelligence capabilities of the national special service.
The NSDC Secretary also noted that the SSU reform envisages, among other things, removing its powers to investigate economic crimes against the interests of the state. In this context, Mr. Danyliuk reminded that work is currently underway on a draft law on the Financial Investigation Service, which will address the detection, termination, disclosure and pre-trial investigation of crimes against the interests of the state in the financial and related fields.
According to him, no more than three thousand people will be employed in the Financial Investigation Service, which will become an effective law enforcement agency and will be the structural part of the Ministry of Finance.
