Oleksandr Turchynov invited top international military experts to participate in the reform of “Ukroboronprom”

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov together with Deputy Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine, chairman of the Interdepartmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation and Export Control Serhiy Kryvonos held a meeting with former Commander of the US Army in Europe Ben Hodges and President of the Potomac Foundation Philip Karber.

During the meeting, Mr. Turchynov informed about the NSDC decision on reforming the defense-industrial complex and increasing the level of transparency in the execution of the state defense order.

The NSDC invited former Commander of the US Army in Europe Ben Hodges and President of the Potomac Foundation Philip Karber, as well as other international experts to enter the "Ukroboronprom" Supervisory Board, and "after its reforming and the establishment of a central government authority on the issues of defense industry, - to the public council at that authority".

The interlocutors also discussed intensification of military-technical cooperation between our countries and attraction of investments to the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex.

"We need to bolster the reform of the defense complex, its development and modernization, because without new technologies, powerful investment resources, we will not be able to effectively counter the aggressor and produce new-generation weapons", - Mr. Turchynov noticed.

In his turn, former Commander of the US Army in Europe Ben Hodges and President of the Potomac Foundation Philip Karber emphasized that Ukraine has already gone a long way in reforming the security and defense sector. "Everyone in the West understands this", - Ben Hodges said. "NATO needs Ukraine in the same way as Ukraine needs NATO", - the President of the Potomac Foundation added.
