The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by 276 votes of people's deputies has adopted the Law of Ukraine on the approval of the Decree of the President of Ukraine "On the Imposition of Martial Law in Ukraine".
The Decree of the Head of State provides for the imposition for 30 days of the legal state of martial law in those regions of Ukraine, which border Russia and Transnistria, starting from November 26, 14:00 till December 26 of this year - in Vinnytsia, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Odesa, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, as well as in the inland waters of the Azov-Kerch area.
Before the discussion of the bill, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov said that during the legal state of martial law, the constitutional rights and freedoms of man and the citizen can be limited only in accordance with the laws and the Constitution of Ukraine, and exceptionally in case the military situation is aggravated and Russia's aggression is intensified.
