Oleksandr Turchynov: Ukraine breaks away from Russian imperial standards
Ukraine breaks away from the Moscow calendars and Russian imperial standards. This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov in a comment after the adoption by the people's deputies of the law on celebrating Christmas twice - on December 25 and January 7.
According to him, now Ukraine will celebrate Christmas "together with the whole civilized world, according to the calendar we live by".
"This is a crucial worldview historic decision that will strengthen Ukraine's stance of European integration and will allow us to break away from the Moscow calendars and Russian imperial standards", - the NSDC Secretary noted.
It
should be recalled that Mr. Turchynov put forward the initiative to introduce
the celebration of Christmas on December 25 more than two years ago

initiative was supported by the general public and leaders of many Christian
denominations.
