President will submit the draft law “On the aspects of state policy of the restoration of Ukraine's state sovereignty over the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions” after consultations with our strategic partners

At the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Presidential Administration of Ukraine received an order of President of Ukraine to hold consultations with our strategic partners on the draft law "On the aspects of state policy of the restoration of Ukraine's state sovereignty over the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions". This was stated by Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov during a briefing after the NSDC meeting.

According to him, the draft law developed by the NSDC Staff together with security and defense experts "is balanced and gives responses to the major security challenges of today". "Moreover, - he added, - the bill provides for comprehensive solutions that should ensure the liberation of the occupied territories".

"Adoption of this law does not contradict the Minsk agreements but, on the contrary, establishes the preconditions for their implementation because they are based on a security factor, without which it is impossible to move in the direction of cessation of aggression", - Mr. Turchynov noticed.

Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine stressed that one of the main objectives of this law is "to create a reliable mechanism that will stop the spread of aggression to the West". "Among other things, and it is a matter of principle for us, the law provides for the protection of those citizens who suffer from the aggressor", - he added.

Oleksandr Turchynov did not rule out that amendments and additions could be made in the draft law during the consulting process, but they should not change its main goal of countering the aggressor and liberating the occupied territories.

"The text of the law will be available after President sends it to the Parliament", - he noted adding that consultations with partners "are unlikely to be rounded off during this last session week". "Thus we can look to the adoption of this law only in early September", - Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine summarized.
