Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov held a meeting with Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli. During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the issues of reforming the security and defense sector of Ukraine and cooperation with the EU on countering cybernetic aggression.

In particular, the parties discussed the latest powerful cyberattack on the information resources of Ukraine and the issue of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in countering cyber threats.

"Cooperation in this issue is vital for us because the cybernetic war is one of the dangerous components of Russia's hybrid aggression against our state", - Mr. Turchynov said adding that the latest attack was the most powerful and directed against the information resources of state structures, the banking sector, subjects of critical infrastructure, and subjects of the economic field of Ukraine.

The interlocutors also considered the peculiarities of draft laws on the National security of Ukraine "On the aspects of state policy of restoring Ukraine's state sovereignty over the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions" prepared by the NSDC Staff.

Oleksandr Turchynov emphasized that, despite the hybrid war waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, "we do not stop the process of strengthening our defense capabilities and reforming the security and defense sector of Ukraine in accordance with the NATO standards".

Hugues Mingarelli stressed that for the EU, the issue of supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine is a matter of principle. "We support the reforms that are taking place in Ukraine and are ready for active cooperation in countering cyberthreats, which constitute a common danger for our countries".
