Oleksandr Lytvynenko: At the meeting of the NSDC of Ukraine, a decision was made to neutralize the threats to energy security and to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine at its meeting on Thursday adopted a balanced resolution to neutralize the threats to energy security and to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure. This was announced by Deputy Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Lytvynenko after the meeting of the Council.

"As a result of discussion, the attention of the cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine was paid to the non-fulfillment of the 2014-2015 NSDC decisions, which, in particular, entrusted to approve the Energy Strategy of Ukraine, to ensure diversification of coal supply sources to Ukraine, and to organize the reconstruction of thermal power plant units and combined heat and power plants for ensuring their use of gas flame coal of domestic production. The Government was assigned to comprehensively ensure the immediate execution of these tasks", - he said.

Deputy Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine also noted the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "was assigned to examine the fairness, economic and social reasonability of the energy, electricity, housing and utility services tariffs, and to improve the mechanisms of state regulation in this sphere as well as to inform the general public about the results of this work".

Oleksandr Lytvynenko emphasized that special attention of the Government and the security and defense sector bodies was drawn to the strengthening of control over the movement of goods and cargos in the ATO area in Donetsk and Lugansk regions and the strict limitation of the list of such goods.

According to Deputy Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine, "the power block was entrusted to ensure proper protection of objects of gas and electricity delivery, transport infrastructure in the area of ​​the antiterrorist operation in Donetsk and Lugansk regions and creating proper security conditions for their smooth functioning".

Law enforcement officers, according to Oleksandr Lytvynenko, should also "urgently step up the efforts to neutralize the attempts of the Russian secret services, their agent network, subverters and sabotage-reconnaissance groups to complicate the operation of objects of critical infrastructure".
