Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Ukraine Ernst Reichel.

During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the current situation in Ukraine and methods of hybrid war waged by the Russian Federation against our country and the countries of Europe. Particular attention was paid to the geopolitical situation settled as a result of aggressive actions of Russia on the global scale.

According to Mr. Turchynov, Germany is a strategic partner for Ukraine. "We are grateful to Chancellor Angela Merkel for her consistent position regarding the support of Ukraine and the efforts for a peaceful settlement of the situation in the east of our country", - he stressed.

While discussing the current situation in Ukraine, the NSDC Secretary emphasized that the issue of restoring defense capability "is a priority for us". "We have already made a lot in this direction, but this issue could be solved much faster if the military-technical cooperation with our partners was not blocked", - Oleksandr Turchynov stated.

Speaking about the unity of the EU countries in the issue of sanctions against the aggressor state, Ernst Reichel stressed that Germany's position lies in that "it is out of question that the sanctions can be mitigated or lifted because Russia follow the Minsk agreements".

"Ukraine can further count on our support", - Ambassador of Germany concluded.
