Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov held a meeting with the Minister of National Defense of the Lithuanian Republic Juozas Olekas and Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Sweden Peter Hultqvist.
During the meeting the interlocutors discussed the issue of intensification of cooperation between the defense ministries and general staffs of our countries. In the course of the talks parties paid special attention to the trainings of Joint Ukrainian-Lithuanian-Polish brigade, which are to take place this year.
Also the issues of military-technical cooperation and measures on combating hybrid warfare, including informational attacks and cyber aggression, were discussed. "Today Russia is waging a hybrid war not only against Ukraine, but also against Europe" - Mr. Turchynov noted.
According to the Minister of National Defense the Republic of Lithuania Juozas Olekas, Lithuania supports and will support Ukraine on its way to European home. "We are ready to continue to provide comprehensive support to Ukraine", - he said.
In his turn, Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Sweden Peter Hultqvist emphasized that in the modern world "the respect for the norms of international law is extremely important", that Russia ignores today". "Our country will continue to assist Ukraine, because your success is the success of European values and freedoms", - he said and reminded that the Government of Sweden has already provided assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 1,5 million Swedish krona "and is not going to stop at that".
Summarizing, NSDC Secretary of Ukraine thanked his interlocutors for supporting our country: "We have a common history with you and I hope that we will have a promising common future".
