Oleksandr Turchynov: those, involved in the construction of oil depots in close proximity to the military base, will sure sit in the prisoner’s dock

Those, involved in the construction of oil depots in close proximity to the military base, will sure sit in the prisoner's dock. This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov, who now on the scene of fire at the oil depot terminal in the village of Kryachky, Kyiv region.

According to him, the main task for now is not to let the flame from a burning oil depot to spread to military base located in the close proximity to scene of fire.

Oleksandr Turchynov noted that localization of fire is in progress and fireground command and control сenter headed by the Head of the State Emergency Service has been established. However, he said, the risk still remains because on one side near the oil depot another oil base is located, and "just 50 meters from the boundary of combustion - a military base with a combat arsenal".

"The main task, of which rescuers and military are bravely working on, is not to let the flame spread to the military base", - he stressed.

NSDC Secretary noted that the evacuation of combat arsenal, that has been launched as early as yesterday, is still going on at the military base. Oleksandr Turchynov informed that evacuation of people from two kilometers area has been completed and "10 km zone evacuation plan has been worked out for the case of danger of fire at the military base".

At the same time he noted that it is strictly prohibited by the law to place any flammable or explosive objects anywhere near the military bases, that have a combat arsenal on their territory. Oleksandr Turchynov said that in addition to criminal cases related to fire event and death of people, "a criminal case on illegal placement of two oil depots in close proximity to the military base has been launched".

"Oil depots were illegally built in the days of Yanukovych, when money were able to solve any question", - he said, stressing that seizure of documents in this case has already begun. "Everyone involved in creation of this dangerous situation: those who gave permission for the placement of oil depots, signed the documents, will sure sit in the prisoner's dock" - summed NSDC Secretary.
