Oleksandr Lytvynenko: Ukraine is fighting for the freedom of the entire democratic world

Ukrainians are fighting not only for their own freedom, but also for the freedom of the entire democratic world, and the outcome depends on its focus. This was emphasised by Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Lytvynenko during a meeting with Honorary Professor of St Antony's College, Oxford University, Timothy Garton Ash on Wednesday, 15 May.

During the dialogue, the parties discussed trends in the current geopolitical situation globally, social, political and economic consequences of the russian war against Ukraine.

In particular, the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine underlined that Ukraine still needs support and assistance from partner countries and more weapons, especially air defence systems.

For his part, Timothy Garton Ash said he believed in Ukraine's victory and expressed his support for the Ukrainian people.
