The Cyber Defenders reintegration programme will help boost Ukraine's cybersecurity human resources
With the support of the National Coordination Centre for Cybersecurity at the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, the Cyber Defenders reintegration programme has started training veterans. The main goal of the programme is to create conditions for veterans to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge for a successful career in cybersecurity. The project provides comprehensive training in cyber defence and cyber security, as well as facilitates employment in the public sector or cybersecurity institutions of Ukraine.
“This project is special for our team. Not only do we strive to increase the country's human resources in the field of cybersecurity, but we also want to express our gratitude to all veterans. It is a big challenge to change your professional field, but together with your desire and support of our team, we are confident that this goal can be achieved”, – said Nataliia Tkachuk, Head of the Information Security and Cybersecurity Service of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, Secretary of the NCCC.
The Secretary of the National Coordination Centre for Cybersecurity thanked the veterans for their contribution to the defence of Ukraine, emphasising the invaluable contribution, bravery and dedication of each of them.
“Each of you, risking your own life and health, stood up to defend our country from the beginning of the military aggression by russia. Your heroism not only determined the course of events on the battlefield, but also gave us the opportunity to work step by step to strengthen the national cybersecurity system. And we are extremely grateful to you for that”, – added Natalia Tkachuk.
In the course of the four-month programme, the participants will:
- be trained from Cyber Unit Technologies, a leading Ukrainian cybersecurity company, in analytics, OSINT, auditing and pentesting;
- improve their English language skills at the British Council school;
- receive career counselling from the employment platform and recruitment agency Lobby X;
- receive psychosocial support for successful reintegration into society after returning from the war.
During the course, participants will learn, among other things, the principles of cybersecurity and their application, encryption techniques and their role in protecting information, as well as how to recognise and respond to various types of cyberattacks.
The Cyber Defenders reintegration programme is being implemented by the U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF Global) and Cyber Unit Technologies with the support of the National Coordination Centre for Cybersecurity at the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine and the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine.
