Oleksiy Danilov: The UN's reaction, which instead of condemning the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station celebrates the russian language day, is surprising

The UN's reaction to the terrorist attack - the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant - is surprising. This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov on Channel 24 on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

"A country that has been waging an open war against our independence for more than 460 days has committed a terrorist act, and the UN celebrated the Day of the russian language," he said. "What is happening in the world is not what should be happening if we are talking about conscience and justice.

According to Oleksiy Danilov, the situation that has developed as a result of the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant poses a threat not only to Ukraine but also to other states whose shores are washed by the Black Sea, as at least 150 tons of machine oil have been spilled into the Dnipro River.

He said that on June 6, at 2:50 a.m., the top military and political leadership of Ukraine was informed of the terrorist attack, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held an emergency meeting of the National Security and Defense Council on the situation at the Kakhovka HPP, which resulted in a number of important instructions.

According to the NSDC Secretary, the situation is "complicated but under control," noting that residential buildings are being flooded, and there are no civilian or military casualties. "We will closely monitor further developments, there are relevant mathematical calculations. But water is an element that is extremely difficult to predict," he emphasized.

Oleksiy Danilov noted that the russians blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station to prevent a counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At the same time, he said, nothing will prevent Ukrainian defenders from liberating the temporarily occupied territories.
