Oleksiy Danilov: Sanctions against russia are working

Sanctions against russia are in effect. This was stated by Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, on the air of the Rada TV channel on Wednesday, 19 April 2023.

"Thanks to the sanctions, a lot of negative processes are taking place in russia," the NSDC Secretary said, adding that if the sanctions mechanism had not been introduced, russia would have had completely different capabilities for weapons production through the use of Western technologies.

He noted that the United States monitors the implementation of sanctions, and if it is proved that some companies still supply modern technologies or dual-use goods to russia that can be used for weapons production, tough measures will be taken against these companies.

The Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine was also sceptical about russia`s prospects of "attracting new partners", saying that these "partners" are mostly third world countries, and "it will definitely not help russia".

According to him, the only country currently supplying weapons to russia is Iran, and if other states try to provide weapons to the aggressor country, they will be sanctioned.

Regarding putin`s recent visit to the temporarily occupied territories, Oleksiy Danilov noted that "putin is the exact opposite of our President, who is not afraid of any situation and can visit the front line at any time, to be with our soldiers."

Speaking about the situation on the frontline, Oleksiy Danilov said that the situation in Bakhmut is difficult, "and we do not hide it". He also said that there are areas of the frontline where the Ukrainian Armed Forces are conducting offensive operations.

According to the NSDC Secretary, our troops are currently "preparing hard", in particular, abroad, and weapons are coming to Ukraine, with the volume of supplies having increased many times over compared to February last year.
