Oleksiy Danilov: NATO expansion is important for Ukraine

The expansion of the North Atlantic Alliance is of great importance for Ukraine. This was emphasized by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, on the air of the national telethon on the "Suspilne" TV channel on Tuesday, April 4.

"When putin began the hot phase of the war on February 24, 2022, he had no idea that Finland and Sweden would begin the process of joining NATO. Today, Finland is a full member of NATO, and in the near future Sweden will also undergo this procedure. Then there will be 32 countries in NATO. I would really like the number 33 to be behind us," Oleksiy Danilov said.

"Apart from Ukraine, today there is no other country in the world that would fight and defeat the so-called "second army of the world", - O. Danilov noted.

Commenting on Russia's nuclear threats, in particular from the russian ministry of defense, the NSDC Secretary emphasized that "sergei shoigu is a representative of the colonizing country."

With intimidation, Oleksiy Danilov noted, "the russian federation draws attention to itself, because it desperately needs negotiations to get out of the impasse into which it has driven itself."

"There are "Iskanders" from the russian federation on the territory of belarus. Can they carry nuclear weapons - yes, of course they can, but for this it is necessary to move nuclear warheads," he emphasized.

At the same time, Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine reminded that the russian federation had made a commitment to non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
