In the Staff of the NSDC of Ukraine discussed the issue of increasing the effectiveness of measures to counter Russian propaganda in Ukraine and EU countries
On March 15, 2023, in the NSDC Staff under the chairmanship of the Head of the Information Security and Cybersecurity Service of the Staff of NSDC of Ukraine, the NCSCC Secretary Natalia Tkachuk on increasing the effectiveness of measures to counter russian propaganda in Ukraine and EU countries, as well as ensuring the effectiveness of the sanctions policy in the information sphere.
The event was attended by representatives of the NSDC Staff, the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting, the Administration of State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine.
"Stopping the broadcasting of russian propaganda TV channels in the democratic countries of the world, in particular, by including them in the relevant EU sanctions packages, was a great victory. However, russia has learned to circumvent sanctions in the media space, offering viewers content that promotes war, the genocide of Ukrainians, and other destructive narratives. Thus, despite the restrictions in place, some European companies continue to provide the russian federation with propaganda content broadcasting services. Therefore, it is necessary to work out a joint action plan to inform partner countries about the need to continue blocking the satellite signal of russian TV channels and non-sanctioned Russian mass media in the Western information space," Natalia Tkachuk noted.
Based on the results of the meeting, measures will be taken aimed at strengthening communication between the Ukrainian and European parties in the issue of improving the effectiveness of the implementation of sanctions in the telecommunications and information spheres, as well as improving the effectiveness of the mechanism for monitoring the implementation of sanctions on the territory of the EU.
