Oleksiy Danilov: The defense of Bakhmut is of great importance for our country

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov emphasized the importance of maintaining the glorious fortress - Bakhmut, during the broadcast of the national telethon on the Suspilne TV channel on Saturday, March 11, 2023.

The situation at the front, in particular in the Bakhmut direction, he said, is under the control of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. On Friday, March 10, the NSDC Secretary reported, one of the longest meetings of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief took place, where these issues were discussed.

Referring to the words of the commander of the Ground Forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Oleksiy Danilov said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are liquidating a huge number of occupiers near Bakhmut.

"Heavy battles are taking place on the outskirts of Bakhmut, but our military is standing, defending this city. The territory around the city is littered with the bodies of the occupiers, which no one takes away," he said.

At the same time, Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine emphasized that the defense of Bakhmut continues for 10 months in a row. "If the Armed Forces had not defended Bakhmut, one can only imagine where the terrorists would be today. Its defense is of great importance for our country and the army in the near future... Just as the fascists lost at Stalingrad, so the russians will lose at Bakhmut," said Oleksiy Danilov.

He also confirmed that due to the losses at Bakhmut, the inglorious history of the "Wagner" PMC is coming to an end.

Commenting on the possibility of a renewed attack by the occupiers in the Vugledar region, the NSDC Secretary noted that "it is hot everywhere in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions today."

"There were unsuccessful attempts to attack in the Vugledar direction, and the russian group had to retreat. Today they were replaced by other units," he said.

Oleksiy Danilov also emphasized the huge queues for the departure of collaborators from the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions to the russian federation. "Collaborators are standing in line to leave the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. They feel that it will be very hot there in the near future," he said.
