Oleksiy Danilov: The accelerated procedure for Ukraine's accession to NATO is absolutely fair

The accelerated procedure for Ukraine's accession to NATO is absolutely fair. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov stated this on-air at the national telethon.

Mr. Danilov noted that today's NSDC meeting with the participation of all members of the Council and the heads of military-civilian administrations of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia regions, the permanent representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea was held in person for the first time since the outbreak of russia's full-scale aggression.

According to him, one of the adopted decisions was the joint appeal of the President of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and the Prime Minister of Ukraine to NATO on the accelerated procedure of joining the Alliance.

We believe that such a procedure is absolutely fair, Mr. Danilov said. According to him, joining the Alliance is "only a matter of time", since the course of Euro-Atlantic integration is enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine.

"We have gone through a difficult path, we meet all the criteria for joining NATO, - the NSDC Secretary emphasized. - We are defending not only ourselves but also NATO's eastern flank - Poland, the Baltic countries, the Czech Republic. At the same time, he noted that the russian federation has a "great desire" to occupy and annex these countries.

Speaking about today's events in the kremlin, Mr. Danilov called them a farce, comparing them to the situation that once existed in Hitler's Germany.

He emphasized that the action that took place in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv regions is "an ordinary informational and psychological attack of the russian federation", which does not have any legal consequences, and the legal term "referendum" cannot be applied to it.
