Oleksiy Solovyov held a meeting of the working group at the NSDC Staff to prepare proposals implementing the provisions of the Council of Europe Convention on the Counterfeiting of Medical Products into national legislation
On November 18, this year, Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Solovyov chaired a regular meeting of the working group of the NSDC Staff to prepare proposals for implementing the provisions of the Council of Europe Convention on the Counterfeiting of Medical Products and Similar Crimes involving Threats to Public Health into national legislation.
Opening the meeting, Mr. Solovyov noted that the main goal of the national health care policy is to protect citizens’ life and health from the possible negative impact of the use of counterfeit medical products. “Obviously, in order to reduce the severity of the consequences of using counterfeit medical products, it is necessary to carry out serious work to develop effective legal norms that will allow law enforcement agencies to bring criminals to justice”, - he said.
Member of the working group, Doctor of Law, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Natalia Gutorova presented to the audience the latest version of the relevant amendments to the legislation.
Given the urgency of the problem, the Deputy NSDC Secretary tasked the members of the working group to provide within two weeks final comments and suggestions on the draft amendments to the legislation.
The working group’s activities should result in a number of draft amendments to the current legislation, the adoption of which will help solve the problems caused by the circulation and use of counterfeit medical products. When generalized, relevant materials will be sent to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for further processing.
