Oleksiy Danilov: Crimea will return home for sure, it is a matter of time

The Crimean peninsula will definitely return under Ukraine’s control, it is only a matter of time. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov stated this during his speech at the thematic panel of the Crimea Platform “Threats to the Azov and wider Black Sea region as a challenge to international security: consolidating efforts and searching for ways of de-occupation”.

“The world is turbulent and moving very fast. As for the return of the Crimean territory home to the mother of Ukraine, it will happen for sure. It is a matter of time”, - Mr. Danilov said.

The NSDC Secretary noticed that currently there is no single “recipe” to return Crimea temporarily occupied by Russia, and pointed out that Ukraine seeks to solve this problem through political-diplomatic means.

“But I want to emphasize – if the issue arises differently, our country will be ready to solve it differently, - Mr. Danilov said. - Sometimes a window of opportunity opens and you have to take advantage of it. And believe me, we will take advantage of this”.

At the same time, the NSDC Secretary stated that in any case, people’s lives are the most important matter for Ukraine, and this is “vital for us, for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy”. He reminded that over the past eight years, Ukraine has lost 13 000 defenders, whose lives no one will return.

“The return of Crimea to home will definitely take place, and the way it happens will depend on many circumstances”, - he concluded.
