On February 2 of this year, the NSDC of Ukraine decided to apply sanctions to certain legal entities and individuals for a period of five years

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy by the Decree of 02.02.2021 № 43/2021 enacted the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of February 2, 2021 “On the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)”.

Proposals for the application of sanctions were submitted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of October 4, 2018, № 2589 – VIII) and the Security Service of Ukraine.

“Today, a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council was held, where the NSDC members considered the issue of applying personal sanctions to legal entities and individuals residing in Ukraine by written vote. Of the 19 members of the National Security and Defense Council, 17 voted in favor, one abstained, and one is on a business trip”, - Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov said.

Sanctions, which include, in particular, blocking of assets, revocation or suspension of licenses, banning the use of radiofrequency resources of Ukraine, etc., were applied to legal entities LLC “TV AND RADIO COMPANY “112-TV”, LLC “LEADER TV”, LLC “PARTNER TV”, LLC “NEWS 24 HOURS”, LLC “New Communications”, LLC “ARIADNA TV”, LLC “NOVY FORMAT TV”, LLC “TV VYBOR”.

Sanctions were also applied to Taras Kozak, a citizen of Ukraine.

By the NSDC decision, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine was instructed to inform the competent authorities of the European Union, the United States and other states about the application of sanctions and raise the issue of similar restrictive measures.
