The Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine O. Danilov familiarized Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Ukraine E. Svedal with the work of the NCCC
The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov familiarized the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Ukraine Erika Svedal with the capabilities of the National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity under the NSDC of Ukraine. Deputy Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Serhii Demediuk also took part in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov emphasized that today the NCCC, which is a key state structure to detect, prevent and respond to cyber incidents, coordinates the work of all key structures of the national cybersecurity system and actively cooperates with the private sector. According to the Deputy Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Serhii Demediuk, the Center also is functioning as one of the three situational centers that is monitoring all processes in the national security sphere.
Danilov named the ensuring Ukraine's cybersecurity as a matter of priority in a hybrid war with Russia, taking into account the targeted cyber intervention to the detriment of our national interests, adding that behind the cyber attacks of Russian hacker groups are special services that run their activities.
The Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine also noticed that cybersecurity has been given a significant place in the new National Security Strategy of Ukraine, and the NCCC specialists have already started developing the Cybersecurity Strategy.
During the meeting, the Ukrainian side stressed the importance of intensifying and expanding interstate cooperation in the field of cyber defense and cooperation of the NCCC with similar centers of partner countries, establishing a permanent information exchange on cyber incidents, conducting joint investigations.
According to the Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine, the information exchange in real time will allow Ukraine and its foreign partners to timely localize and neutralize cyberattacks.
Among other things, it was stressed the importance not only of building a powerful cyber defense system, but also of conducting their own active offensive operations in cyberspace, in particular, preventive operations in order to neutralize the enemy's computer systems.
In turn, Mr. Ambassador expressed his opinion on the prospects of bilateral cooperation in the cybersecurity sphere.
