Reforming of the education system in the context of improving the state policy of innovative development should be considered by the NSDC in the nearest future. This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov.
The NSDC Secretary stressed that the analysis of the state of the higher education system in the context of national security conducted with the help of COTA software and hardware shows a systemic crisis in this sphere, which creates potential and real threats to Ukraine’s national security.
Mr. Danilov emphasized that the science and technology of developed countries are significantly ahead of domestic ones. He outlined the main directions of the latest and breakthrough technologies, which have been identified, in particular, by NATO experts and which will have a decisive impact on the socio-economic development of the world and on national, collective security and defense over the next 20 years:
- Big Data and Advanced Analytics (BDAA);
- Artificial Intelligence (AI);
- Autonomy (in particular robotics);
- Quantum Technologies (QT);
- Space Technologies;
- Hypersonics;
- Bio & Human Enhancement Technologies (BHET);
- Novel Materials and Manufacturing (NMM).
In this context, Mr. Danilov stressed the need to focus on reviving the scientific and technological potential of Ukraine. “The development of science-intensive industries that shape the competitive advantages of any state will allow countering a wide range of existing and future threats”, - he underscored.
